We’re excited to welcome Eoin Moylan (pronounced: Owen) to the JMP team, joining us as our new Video Editor. With a strong eye for detail and a real passion for storytelling, Eoin brings fresh creative energy to the post-production team.

To help Declan and you get to know him a little better, we sat down (via DM’d over Slack) and asked him a few quick questions – from what inspires him creatively to his go-to hobbies outside of work. Here’s what he had to say…

Tell us a little about you away from work…

I’m lucky enough to be a person with a lot of hobbies, I love running and cycling, and for some reason decide to take on big challenges like running 50KMs in the Mendips or cycling to Paris.

When I’m not torturing myself with endurance challenges I love hanging out with friends, be it with a pint at a beer garden, mosying around some charity shops or going to a gig. It’s also impossible to live in Bristol and not eventually start bouldering so that’s another one on the list.

Summer is just around the corner now as well so I can’t wait to hit up some festivals and go for big camping trips with my friends! Also is it really embarassing to admit that I DJ too?

A little about your career so far, What got you into the industry?

I’ve been in the industry for a little while now mainly as an Assistant Editor having been lucky enough to work on some really cool things with amazing people. I’ve worked at Discovery Channel, on Peter Kosminsky’s The Undeclared War, Chicken Run 2, an Ainsley Harriott show and The Earthshot Prize just to name a few!

I’d wanted to get into the industry since I was about 14. Film, TV and storytelling was the first thing I think I truly fell in love with and obsessed over.

Proudest achievement so far?

Well it’s gotta be Chicken Run 2… doesn’t it?!

Where do you get your inspiration for content?

My favourite thing to watch is Beau Miles’ Youtube channel, he’s just got such a great way about him and has an incredible knack for creating great stories out of the mundane. One of my favourite videos of his is an Ode to his hat which has broken down too much to wear anymore, or going on a trip for 3 days where his only food is a pumpkin he found.

In terms of my inspiration as an Editor, I’ve worked with some of the world’s best Editors and take a lot of inspiration from their work. I also think Anthony Smith who edits the trailers for Diary of a CEO is a great inspiration because of his talent but also his philosophy of 1% where every video he strives to make 1% better and improve himself as an Editor.

Why did you decide to join JMP?

Throughout my career as an Assistant Editor I always felt I had more to give and could be a great editor in my own right but struggled to get those opportunities. I’m incredibly thankful that the team at JMP have taken a chance on me and given me an opportunity to show my skills as an Editor and even better that it’s a company that makes really amazing content.

I love JMP’s knack of working with ordinary people and telling their incredible stories like with Real Football Number Ones or Cash 4 Clubs.
