‘Still Got It’ is a concept JMP created for the League of 72 Youtube channel, with the format involving a legend of a former club returning to their old stomping ground to meet with current players.
From there they recreate classic goals, compete in challenges, and discuss the team and their season so far in one concise production.
The fifth instalment of the series, and third of 2023, saw us visit Blackburn Rovers, where one of the Premier League’s all-time great strikers Andy Cole met with Ben Brereton Diaz and Bradley Dack.
In recent editions we’ve included two current players, often close friends within the squad, alongside the returning legend. This is to ensure that there is strong chemistry between the trio, and they are all relaxed on camera.
Given that Andy Cole was the star of this episode, we challenged Brereton Diaz and Dack to recreate two of his most iconic goals for Rovers, including the winner in the 2002 League Cup Final against Tottenham Hotspur.
To add colour to the production, we animated his wonder volley against Liverpool. Host Will Brazier also tried his luck at attempting it, with his skewed efforts amusing both the stars and our six-strong crew.
Talking points to round up the video including comparing the dressing rooms Cole and the current players experienced at Ewood Park, the current Rovers squad, and more.
We delivered a seven-minute production for the League of 72’s Youtube channel, as well as supporting shorts for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The shorts were viewed by an audience of over 150,000 on social media, generating significant traffic to the Youtube edition.
“This edition of Still Got It was a thoroughly enjoyable one, and our job was made simple by Andy Cole, Ben Brereton Diaz, and Bradley Dack really buying into what we were producing, enjoying themselves in the process. Presenter Will Brazier did a brilliant job getting all three stars involved in the recreations and later discussion, and although his own finishing was particularly questionable at times, this made for great viewing!
“I’m glad we could deliver a product to be enjoyed by fans of Blackburn Rovers and football. Still Got It is such a special series in the way it can remind supporters of special times gone by, as well as excite them as to what the future may hold.”
